Product Assurance

in line with ECSS

The challenge

My customer in Munich developed the deployable antenna system (LDRS) for the ESA mission Copernicus Imaging Microwave Radiometer (CIMR).

During the preliminary design phase, it was necessary to expand the existing product assurance organization. At the same time, the activities of my customer and their subcontractors had to be monitored.

Cooperation

For my customer, I took on product assurance tasks according to ECSS-Q standards until the team expansion was complete. Among other responsibilities, I was in charge of conducting safety analysis, cleanliness and contamination control, fracture control, and critical items control.

In this context, I monitored my customer’s subcontractors and supported the project team in developing and implementing measures to carry out these activities.

N

Ready for PDR and EQM

My client had achieved the necessary results in product assurance and implemented measures to successfully complete the PDR.

Furthermore, the prerequisites were met to oversee the production of the Engineering Qualification Model (EQM) for the antenna system.

PA team deployed

At the end of the collaboration, the newly hired employees in the product assurance team were able to successfully meet the ESA’s requirements for the next project phase.

At the same time, I created the space for the existing employees to continue fulfilling their tasks in my customer’s other projects during our collaboration.

Increased confidence in action

Since product assurance always involves the entire project team, numerous employees of my customer benefited from my experience during our collaboration.

This allowed me to contribute to the growth of both the people and the project organization of my customer, thereby enhancing the overall team’s capability to act.
